Families from all over the area came out to pay tribute to fallen service members on May 28th at the Hammonton Tri-Vets Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. Attendees watched as local veterans, and various organizations marched in the parade accompanied by antique cars, floats and the Hammonton High School band. During the ceremony, leadership from the local American Legion, VFW and DAV as well as representatives from the Town Council and the boy scouts spoke about the meaning of Memorial Day. Special guest speakers included: Melissa Sims, a 1997 West Point graduate, former Medical Service Corps Captain and currently, a manager with the National Parks Service; and, Captain Jeffrey Hagerty, an Army Ranger and current commander of the local National Guard Unit. This great and solemn event will prove to be memorable everyone.
